Building Boldly—and Caring Deeply: Mental Health Awareness Month at The Boost Pad

Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a vital time to pause and reflect on the truth we don’t talk about enough: entrepreneurship is as much a mental game as it is a business one.

At The Boost Pad, we believe that dreams don’t just need strategy—they need strength. And we know that strength is about far more than grit or hustle. It’s about nurturing your whole self—mind, body, and spirit—so that you can build boldly without burning out.

Entrepreneurial Mental Health: A Foundational Focus

Our mission has always been clear: to equip emerging and under-resourced entrepreneurs with the guidance and support needed to develop innovative solutions, build sustainable enterprises, and advance economic mobility across Charlotte. But how we do that is just as important.

Mental health is not a side note to entrepreneurship—it’s foundational to it. That’s why we weave entrepreneurial well-being into everything we do, from peer accountability groups and mentorship to open conversations about the highs and lows of building something from the ground up.

When you’re an entrepreneur—especially one navigating barriers like systemic inequity, underfunding, or lack of representation—the weight can be heavy. We want every founder who walks through our doors to know: you are not alone in the fight, and your well-being matters as much as your business goals.

Rooted in Core Values

Community Empowerment. Faith. Inclusivity. Integrity. Love. These aren’t just words on our wall—they are living, breathing principles that shape the kind of space we cultivate. We are building a culture where asking for help is a strength, where vulnerability is met with compassion, and where every entrepreneur is seen, supported, and celebrated for the fullness of who they are.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we encourage every founder to take stock of not just their KPIs, but their inner health:

  • Who’s in your corner to lift you when things feel heavy?
  • Are you building rhythms of rest and reflection into your week?
  • Do you have spaces where you can be honest about the challenges?

Together, We Rise

We are proud of the courageous entrepreneurs in our community who show up day after day with vision and vulnerability. And we are committed to continuing to grow a space where both can thrive.

If you’re an emerging entrepreneur seeking a community that cares about you as much as your business, we invite you to explore what The Boost Pad offers. Because when you are supported holistically, your business doesn’t just grow—it flourishes.

Let’s keep building—and let’s keep caring.

Thank you!

Behind every successful entrepreneurial ecosystem are organizations willing to invest in people with bold ideas. For years, NC IDEA has championed entrepreneurship across North Carolina by helping founders transform innovative ideas into thriving businesses through education, funding, and ecosystem development. The Boost Pad is proud to partner with NC IDEA in creating meaningful opportunities for early-stage entrepreneurs. During Cohort 12 Pitch Night , NC IDEA demonstrated that commitment by sponsoring the $5,000 Startup Currency Award , which was presented to Daija Peeler , founder of SevenSixteen. Presented by Sarah Mixter, Director of Ecosystem Engagement at NC IDEA , the award represented more than funding—it represented confidence in a founder's vision and belief in the impact entrepreneurship can have on communities throughout our state. Building More Than Businesses Entrepreneurship requires more than great ideas. It requires access to resources, relationships, education, and capital. NC IDEA continues to play an important role in helping entrepreneurs bridge those gaps by investing in founders at critical stages of their journey while strengthening the organizations that support them. That mission closely aligns with The Boost Pad's commitment to helping entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses through mentorship, education, community, and access to capital. Expanding Opportunity Every founder deserves the opportunity to pursue their vision. Through programs, grants, ecosystem initiatives, and partnerships, NC IDEA continues creating pathways that make entrepreneurship more accessible across North Carolina. We are grateful for their continued partnership and for their investment in entrepreneurs who are building stronger businesses and stronger communities. Together, we are helping create the next generation of North Carolina founders.
